Francis Kurkdjian is one of the world's leading perfumers.
Surprisingly he was not born in Grasse, the traditional home of
perfume. Nor was he the child of a line of perfumers. In fact when
he was young he studied piano and dance. However, at 15 he
discovered perfume and decided to become a perfumer.
In 1995, when he was only 25, he created his first perfume, Le
Male, for Jean Paul Gaultier. Since then his name includes dozens
of fragrances created for the world of fashion, beauty and luxury
(Dior, Elizabeth Arden, Giorgio Armani, Guerlain, Jean-Paul
Gaultier, Kenzo, Yves Saint-Laurent).
Since 2001, parallel to his work with fragrance house Quest
International and later with Takasago, he founded his own atelier
for 'custom-made fragrances', and participated in numerous artistic
collaborations and olfactory installations in Paris, Versailles and
New York.
In 2009 he opened his own fragrance house Maison Francis
Kurkdjian in Paris.
